Hi and thanks to anyone in advance that can help.

I'm trying to upgrade an Acer 3003's wireless G to wireless N but am not having any luck. I've tried the Linksys WPC100 RangePlus adapter and a Dlink wireless N USB adapter... neither seem to make a difference. The wireless G is still able to see more available networks (even after clearing any memorized ones) compared to the N. Same goes for signal strength.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have a Pre-N/Draft-N router? It's not going to work to just have a N card in your notebook.

    Hi Gautam,

I've tried it with older G routers as well as new N routers. I'm finding that in certain areas the built in G picks up networks whereas the N won't (with the G disabled) see any networks at all. I have been able to get a connection using the N (with the G disabled) when I'm in close proximity to a router, but get nothing when trying from a relatively short distance (that the G picks up when enabled).

    Thanks for the reply!

11n uses the same bandwidth 2.4ghz as 11n. so the range is no better. If dual band 5ghz it has less wall penetrating capabilites than 11n. You have to have a strong signal for 11n to exceed the 130mbps mark. Are you using 2 wireless cards at once (internal, external). This will cause noise between the 2. Are you using any kind of security? WEP, WPA ..... 11n perfers WPA(2) Personal (AES).
