My wireless card is not working the way it should. Streaming videos have been buffering very slowly (far more slow then it should) for example. The only thing out of the oridary that I've noticed so far is that the "Sent" and "Received" numbers under activity have been climbing very quickly, no matter what I'm doing online. The Vista repair function hasn't found any error, so I'm assuming its a problem with my setup or drivers. I would really appreciate any help on this.

I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad T400, with Vista business, 64 bit, and a Inter(R) Wifi Link 5300 with PAN

The thing that bothers me most of all is that I have an older computer a floor above the router, it has lower system specs, and a crappy usb dongle for wifi(with a cantenna) and it streams video twice as fast as my otherwise superior laptop (which, if it were any closer to the router it would be fused to it).

make sure that the white and black antenna wires are hooked up to the correct connectors on the wireless card.

That doesn't matter. The antennas are exactly the same.

the antennas are not the same. different lengths, deliberately set so as to be tuned for diversity. the wireless card is 'expecting' to see the correct antenna connected to the correct port.

Antennas are not tuned for diversity (not sure what that means). If that was the case, instructions that come with a Mini PCIe wifi NIC would require it. My GN-WS30N doesn't care what antenna is connected to what port, and speed/strength doesn't fluctuate if I switch the antennas around. Color coding on the sockets is for standardization only. Of course, if you can provide some technical white paper about this, I will retract my entire argument.

How do I get access to the antennae? I want to readjust them?

Normally, the antenna are routed through your case and into your LCD bezel. There is no adjustment for your antenna.

Did you reinstall the wireless drivers, as qhn suggested?

If the sent/receive buffers are increasing, you've got something going on in your OS. Have you done a complete virus/trojan scan? Do you have anything running in the background that is download/uploading somthing?

look it up yourself including the term diversity as it applies to wifi and don't get diversity confused with mimo. Basing your opinion on the instruction sheet for a single product isn't too smart. But then again........

I did. I found several articles about diversity when referring to wifi, but the content merely referred to multiple antennas, as I expected. I didn't find any articles/white papers about antenna length, or anything about a certain port on a wifi NIC either looking for or expecting a certain antenna length.

If you would be so kind to post a link to an article that discusses antenna length and certain ports on a wifi NIC expecting a certain length, I would appreciate it.
