If you are going to use wireless for gaming there is no fix. LAGs will allways be there.

    Wired is prefered.

The big issue is with wireless, the latency is always going to be high. No real way around it. It's not a critical thing but you'll see its impact in games more than anything else. When you talk about latency and lagtime in milliseconds, they really start to add up! On that note, I've never seen a gaming router seriously reduce the lagtime in online games.

Usually, moving the reciever closer to the base station or away from ferrous materials produced better results. Using the speedguide tweaks will make the lag on the internet end a lot lower and make the high latency of your wireless a little less of an issue. If there are any speed tweaks for your router or wireless card, even better.

That said it would best, if you can possibly do it, to run a cat5/6 cable to the router for gaming, and unplug it when you're just surfing the net. They make some retractable (but short) network cords that can be chained together and snapped back up in a flash.
