I have a dell inspiron 1720 and I have comcast wireless internet at home. Every time our home phone is answered or used, my notebook drops the wireless signal and I get kicked off the internet.

I've heard that signals can get crossed and maybe thought that was my problem. How could I fix something like that? Or, could there be another problem?

I would really appreciate some help with this. It's ruining my ability to play poker and make money

It's not wireless interference I think. It's your DSL filter that may be the problem, which affects your router. The filter is probably not filtering the phone line well enough to block out unwanted noise signal from your phone line. It's similar to dial-up, without a dsl filter, you'll get booted if you use the phone or somebody calls.

Does your phone by any chance operate at 2.4ghz frequency?

if it's a cordless phone I would bet with interference. but you can check it. run netstumbler or something and see if the wifi signal changes when you receive a phone call. if it doesn't change and you lost the internet it's certainly the dsl filter.

This happens to me as well just change to a different channel and that should fix the problem.

Ditto. Change the channel on the router to one that isn't being used by other routers in your area also.
