There are a lot of wireless signals in my apt.(over 15) and I was looking for an application to see what frequency they are running at so i can set mine to one that is not being used or least being used. I heard of inSISDer but I can't find anything on it.
Is there any free application that lets you do this? Thanks

I assume by frequency, you are meaning channel.

Yeah, channel interference can be quite an trouble. The Intel wireless software supports it, I don't have much experience with Thinkpads, but don't they have a third party wireless software ?

net stumbler no longer works with Vista or later.

You need inSSIDer, the Vista equivalent.

The website also developed CHANalyzer, a wireless landscaper or surveyor, which is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the tip on inSSIDer surfasb. I will check it out as I am running W7 and Vista on my main laptop, and have to switch hard drive caddies to find out info on hotspots

    LOL

I totally thought that was part of the Model #.

I'm thinking T9400 and 4GB is a relatively new computer.

wifi inspector has been getting progressively flakey as Win7 betas/RTM have progressed. Hopefully Xirrus will update their very useful software soon.

Do you mean the sidebar gadget (I agree) or the application (I haven't seen any issues--yet)

Sorry, yes, the gadget is very flakey. The standalone app is great.
