I have just set myself up for a new wireless network with an emachines M6811 and DLINK DI_524 router. I selected the WPA-PSK encryption. It looks like I cannot get a stable connection with this setup. The router is detected with excellent signal strength, but it takes forever to aquire the network ID and then it's lost again. On the other hand, I can easily maintain a connection on the rather low signal of a neighbour's insecure router. I also get frequent messages like "no certificate to connect to the network". I'm confused by this as I don't have a server that would require a certificate but only the basic TKIP protocol. I don't get that message when I connect to the unsecured network in the neighbourhood. So my question is: what is wrong? Is it an issue with the DI-524, or did I do something wrong with the WPA-PSK setup?

You should probably set it up as WEP encryption.
