Can you verify that the card is actually installed? Is it visible in device manager?
It's most likely (if the card is in fact there and drivers are installed) that you need special Medion software that is responsible for on/off switch (just like Launch Manager in Acers) Check their support website for any apps that are needed to operate special buttons like e-mail client or web browser- it’s usually the same app responsible for WiFi on/off switch.

Have you checked your BIOS to verify that wifi is not disabled?

If the card doesn't show up in the device manager, then Windows cannot detect the card. Do you have an internal card or an external card?

i have one of these laptops.

you have to activate the wireless feature on your F1 key by pressing your blue FN key (bottom left of keyboard) and F1 at the same time.

    It sounds like either:
    The card is dead.
    The socket is dead.
The card is not installed at all.

...or maybe due to some shock to the laptop card is not properly seated in its socket. Someone here reported sth like that a while back.

True, There is probably a few others. One way or another he will need to open it and check on things.

Going through a wide temperature change can unseat items too.

    They should.
If it is mini pci-e and you currently have a dual band antenna, look into an Intel 3945, 4965, 5100 or 5300. If you only have two antenna leads, it's okay to use a card with 3 leads, just leave one.

The 5300 can be a touch noisy though, just a touch of static sometimes. Mine does this. Some can fix it by removing the third wire. On all of them, make SURE you get a generic Intel card, not an HP, Dell or Lenovo part number. They are locked to the bios.

If you have an older mini-pci style, aim for the same card, it makes it easier. Some use a software on-off, some use a hardware switch to cut power. If you put them in the wrong type, it may not turn on. There is a fix, but you have to put a VERY small piece of tape over one of the contacts. Not very difficult but it is a hassle.
