    Gday
Never encountered this problem before for a wireless usb device.
Used a d-link wireless g usb reciever to connect to our wireless router - which in turn is connected to a 2wire gateway modem.
only need username and password for the 2wire. wireless router has no encryption or password key set in it.

Plugged in the wireless usb d-link into the desktop which runs xp , the usb can see the router but it wont connect , says it needs to obtain a certifiicate to connect to the router , I am not sure what to do has I have never encountered this problem before.
Also it is a pain in the arse getting the usb device to keep the connection , sometimes I have to keep redoing the connection all the time and restarting the computer.
Orther usb devices I just plug in the front and I am away in 30 sec , no certificates and no messing around trying to get the usb to 'keep' the connection' . Bloody usb d-link !!
    any advice
    cheers

It sounds like you have the wrong encryption on the D-Link. Make sure you have "personal" and not "enterprise" for the security mode. Enterprise requires a server, which you most certainly don't have in your network.
