    Just got my dv6 7000 series and finding out that the wifi adapter is only 2.4ghz and i am looking to upgrade it to something that will also do the 5ghz in the effort to stop getting disconnected every time someone uses the microwave.

    this is what i currently have Ralink RT5390R 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter

    Most reasonable choice would be to buy an Intel 6200 (2.4GHz and 5GHz, 300mbps 2T2R).
    You'll have to buy from HP though due to HP whitelisting not accepting different cards.
