Here the issue I have an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter
and I have updated drivers ver 7.6.0.154 when it dies it dies. I can't find my own router no matter what I do.

I have to plug in my lan cat 5 cable for a couple secs let it see my network then unplug it then the wifi sees my network.

This is the only thing I hate about this notebook. I uninstall enet after someone post on the acer forum it has issues and just using what is built into Vista Ultimate. I reinstalled enet since it doesn't matter.

Fresh install of Vista no Acer stuff but driver and emanagement software I reinstalled.

Acer do WLAN in a funny way.
It needs a special app to even enable it (additional to having a switch).
This software is only on the Acer restore.

Your problem might have to do with the auto-off when LAN connected.
I keep newer driver over at laptopvideo2go for Atheros cards (v7.6.1.162)
I also make modded drivers to enhance range,

Thanks for trying to help. However those drivers disable my wireless completely everything was ok in device manger but no led light or network detected.

7.6.1.162 said AR5007EG so no idea why it killed my card. Normal and modded same issue. Maybe my chipset is different how do I find out if I have 5000/9000?

Give 7.6.1.111 ago, it's one of the more stable drivers I've found.

Atheros drivers are a monopoly and give such varied results .
Possibly just go right back to an older driver if it works don't fix it.

Try changing the channel on your router, if it is possible, interference can do a lot of damage to connectivity.

I got it to work re downloaded the normal driver (modded driver not installing) only thing now is enet isn't showing anything. However Vista is connected so I guess I will unistall enet.

Update: Reboot Enet is showing wifi information again.

Wlanman same issue today dropping a couple time in the last hour. However unlike before it didn't lose my network name and I reconnected fine.

Do you think the problem is with my router? It is a Linksys WRT54G 4 ports router/firewall.

    update:

I did some looking in to my router witch is a WRT54G Ver. 1.1 a friend gave me it like 4-5 months back never had a firmware update. It had the same firmware that came from the factory.

So I update it to the lastest which is 4.21.1 I think this may be my issue. The firmware states it updated wireless drivers and wi-fi certified among a host of other issues.
