    Hi,
I have an HP Pavillion 6000 series laptop (dv6690)
I've change the setting in Vista, so when I close my lid, if im connected to electricity, the notebook wouldn't go to sleep mode.
however, when I close the lid, the internet connection is lost.... is there a seperate definition for this part?

I'm also remebering seeing some menu with the option of diable or enable the option for "close network connection" while the notebook is closed I think,
only that I don't remember how i got to that menu, can anyone direct me?
I think it had to something with saving battery power...

    ok thanks!

Is this the wireless connection that you lose when you close the lid?

It could be that the signal is lost when you lower the lid because the wifi antenna is in the lid.

one more question......do u lose ur connection as soon as u close the lid... or does it take some time.....in that case it must be the power saving mode of the wireless adapter.....to disable it go to

control panel>>network connections>>right click the wireless connection>>properties>> configure (just below the name of ur adapter)>>power management>>untick the "allow this computer to turn off this device"

thanks, that was the option i was looking for,
I unticked it, but still i seem to lose the connection,
and I can't really decide if its due to lower wireless signal (I'm currently testing it on my negihbours signal on a 2/5 signal rate, as my wireless connection is an another town), or if its due to closing the lid...
what I do is trying to download a 30mb file, and I see that it doesn't continue to download it, unless I open the lid again.... even now after I unticked that thingm which I thouhght would have helped.... any ideas?

Open the device manager...Goto Network adapters > Right click properties > Go to Power Management Tab >> "Uncheck allow the comp..."

That's it! Dont forget to Reboot.

I am dealing with the same issue. I didn't see a solutions so I am adding another post. I have a M1530 laptop wtih MS Vista. When I cloose my lid & re-open I loose the wireless connection. It starts to show limited connectivity. If I choose repair wireless that does not fix the issue. I have to restart the computer to get it to work again.

I have tried changing various settings listed below but no luck.

    1. Device Manager - Network Adapter - Select Intel Adapter go to - Properties - Power management & uncheck allow this computer to disable this device to save power

    2. Power options - System Settings - When I Close the Lid = I tried keeping it at Sleep or Hibernates both gives the same problem.

    3. Wireless Adapters Settings - Power Savings Mode - Maximum Performance

    4. I uninstalled and then re-installed the driver.

    5. Call Dell Support who had me download a BIOS path.

None of that has helped. Anyone delt with this issue and may know the fix, please help.

It seems to me that it is some kind of vista bug, because i have tried everything but was not succeeded. Yes, i do have the same problem. I have Samsung R25 Plus notebook with Atheros based wireless card.

Couple a days ago i have noticed that wireless connection is lost when i am closing the lid. But (!) when i am opening the lid again the connection resumes automatically. I don't really understand what i have done that have caused this bug…

Still don't know how to solve it :(
If i will succeed — be sure i will post the soultion here.

    UPDATE #1
Found a very interesting topic about our problem, check it out.
Still can not improve this. Will try now to update my Vista (full update). I have also discovered that it is really old problem. But i haven't had it, it is new for me.
    Will write back later.

    UPDATE #2
    It's some kind of mystery!
Updated successfully, problem still remains!!! :( Will search more…
