Hi all - hope someone can help me. I have a new laptop (Asus W3J). I want to set up my internet connection to run wirelessly. I also want to set up a connection between itunes and my stereo. Questions:

    1. Will my internet connection be slower wireless than direct cable dsl?

    2. What do I need for the wireless connection?

    3. I assume I should use apple airport express w/ airtunes? Do I need that AND a wireless connection - or does the apple airport express suffice?

    1. wireless will be slower than a wired connection

    2. you need internet service, a wireless router, and a computer with a wireless NIC

    3. why are you asking about apple when you have an asus?

Because I want to wirelessly stream my itunes from my computer to my stereo. Believe airport express w/ airtunes does that and works for windows too.

I take it that doesn't duplicate the wireless router. Sounds like I need both the router and the airtunes.

The airport express is a wireless router with Apples name and twice the price as a std router. Any router does the same function. Unless you have apples around. The airport adds usb ports for connecting printers to it. There are quite a few routers with usb/lpt ports for connecting printers. You will be much better off with a network printers or share the one on you desktop.

    Ismael,

Check out the Logitech Wireless DJ. There's a favorable review of it in this month's Sound & Vision magazine. It comes with everything you need (and more) to stream music from the PC to the stereo.

However, if you also want to set up wireless internet, you will need a router as others have said. Once you have that router and wireless connection set up, you could use something like a Linksys Media Bridge to send music to the stereo (with this setup, you would still control the music from the laptop - no remote control). Note that this option has 2 pieces (the Router and the Music Bridge), but doesn't limit you to only being able to play from iTunes like the Apple Airport does - you can stream any audio (WMP, Asus DVD, game audio (I think), etc..) from your PC to the Music Bridge. Both items together will cost you about what the Airport will.
