Basically everything you need is on the net. The rest you're on your own. You have to learn it by experience. But IMO, don't even think about it man.... it isn't worth it if you'll get caught.

Like he said, it's experience. New fields like "hacking" have no established industry schools/ standards/ etc. Better that you can say "These are examples of my capabilities."

My point is CEH certified courses won't hold nearly as much weight as one single actual project. I'd take a single chance to impress a real company for free over 5 certified courses. Of course, if you don't have any kind of background in the first place, then go for the courses.

Whether you call yourself a "white" or "black" hat hacker... well.. they started locking up "white hat" hackers too, lately. You'll just get stuck in a honey pot... good luck trying... see you at the jail house.

Maybe this is worth your time getting some certifications like that of Cisco, companies really look on that. If you think that it's what they want, then go for it!
IMO, to get a better paying job, I would increase my experience, especially if I already have previous jobs. Certifications are extra browny points but experience is still unbeatable.
