    I have my home network set up with a static IP, ive noticed that when I try to connect outside the home(unsecured networks), i connect to the router but cant get internet. For example at the hospital my friend with vista and no find ip auto on, connected to the web and i could only connect to the router, please help

    You've to enable DHCP when outside your home,so the router can give you an automatic ip.Your static IP might be already used or out of the ip range when trying to connect.

    how do i do this without losing my settings for my home connection?
