well, we recently had a power outage in ohio. i moved my laptop and TV to my store (it still had power), expecting that it would work. i tried connecting to the wireless, and got the dialogue saying that my security setting weren't matching with the router's (along those lines). it is a WEP encypted network, but last time i checked WEP didn't require any password.

    anything I'm doing wrong?

WEP needs a network key which you can find in the router config.

You need to open the wireless adapter interface and do the change there.

Select wireless properties and then select security.

how do i get to the connectivity menu when i can't connect to a network? my home network is down, and all surrounding networks are WPA enabled. if possible, can i connect through Ethernet and then attempt to access the connectivity menu for wireless?

you should be asked to enter a key when trying to connect, if not just try going to the network and sharing center and click add a network. you should just need the ssid (name), and the network key (password).
