ok, so i have a laptop with vista 32-bit installed and am using a hawking HWU8DD adapter. It has been working great for the last 2 months.then one day i got up to do something, came back and i was disconnected.i tried reconnecting and it immediately said it wasn't able to connect.all the setting are the same as before, i even tried default settings, and reloading the driver.i can't connect to any network, and if i can then it is really slow, as in it takes 1 min to load google if at all.because of this i tried loading up backtrack 3 and connecting to the network i always use, and it connected right away and is as fast as it should be.now everytime i want to go online i have to load up BT3.

anyone have any solution?maybe it's a virus, but my antivirus can't find anything.

Since you can connect here and there, it could be a signal problem. Have you tried to connect the laptop to the router using an Ethernet port?

Your MTU setting may be to large. Def is 1500 where most DSL services use a 1492. The symptoms you describe is a good indication this is the problem. This will impact the wired and the wireless side. It does not take long to change. I also like cloning the router with the MAC address used to setup the account. It does not cause problems but sometime it can fix some.

Normally the MTU as default is set to automatic or automatic by DHCP .

Yes, but most will still lock on 1500 and not drop to 1492. I normally set this at the WAN/internet port on the router. And you will still show 1500 on the pc side.
