hi, i would like to ask - i installed virtual pc on my vista laptop. i put xp into virtual pc but i can not make any internet connection in virtual pc - dont know how to do it - i want to make wireless connection cause ive got wifi internet.

i would like to have it like this - i switch on my laptop, and in vista i could normally use my internet with my wireless adapter (realtek) and that i switch on virtual pc and in XP i could also go on the internet with the same wireless adapter............ is it ever possible to run two internet connection on one laptop with one wireless adapter??

Yes, it is possible. In VMware you just tell him to use a "bridged network adapter". I have used VPC in the past and there was a similar option, try to look for it in your virtual machine settings.

    Hope it helps.

For me the way it works is vitrual pc automatically creates a bridged connection, then in your virtual pc version of xp, it will shows up as a wired connection to the virtual pc but really it is using your vistas wireless.

all you have to do is before (or after for that matter) start the virtual machine, there is a settings button there, click it, go down to the network selection and click it, then in the first drop down, pick your network adapter as your wireless card in the host os...should go right online w/ no other settings required...

ok, so, i tried it with normal cable connection and it worked - in virtual xp maschine i went to control panel and to device manager BUT in network adapters opiton there was only INTEL ETHERNET PCI something.... In vista device manager i have three adapters - one is realtek wireless, one is realtek fast ethernet and bluetooth something... how is it possible thet it is working in virtual pc with tottally diferent adapter from a different manufacturer(intel)? and my final question - i will try it with wireless tomorow and i am afraid that if there is no wireles adapter listed in virtual pc device manager will it work??? i downloaded some XP drivers for my wireless but they do not work..

i don't claim to be a vpc expert or really understand how it's working under the hood...but to answer your question, virtual pc is mapping some of the stuff on the host operating system (your Vista pc) to generic devices w/in the virtual operating system (Virtual XP pc). Mine is the same way, I have a Dell D630 and the wired ethernet is a broadcom chipset based NIC, but w/in VPC, this shows up as a generic Intel controller.

You'll probably find that whatever you choose in your VPC settings to be the Network device to be used, it'll show up inside your VPV as something Intel generic.
