    Hi everyone,

I got the HP DV6T 6c000 with the Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n wireless adapter and i am noticing very slow internet speeds and connection.

Doing a speed test, i get around 1Mbps download and upload, while its connected to my schools wireless.

When i try my Linksys AE2500 wireless adapter, i get around 20Mbps download and about the same for upload, and its connected to wireless b (54Mbps) just as the Realtek adapter.

How can i fix my Realtek adapter so it gets normal speeds? Is there any settings i should check or change? I cannot skype with my girlfriend due to the slow connection, and i would not like to use the USB wireless adapter as i plan on giving it to my parents.

    Thanks for the help

Make sure you're using the most recent drivers (visit Realtek website too- don't count on HP) and make sure that any power-saving features in Windows power profile and in device manager are disabled.

    BTW "g" is 54mbps, "b" is 11 ;)

    hi,

I updated the drivers to the newest version, and i still get the same results :(

I did the speedtest for both from the same server, and my wireless usb adapter is a lot faster. I moved locations in my school, and my results are

    build in Realtek 8188CE wireless - download - 3.44Mbps, upload - ~10Mbps
    USB linksys AE2500 - download - around 18Mbps, upload around 22Mbps

Any ideas on why the differences is so huge, and how to fix it?

Test it somewhere else to confirm that the problem is indeed Realtek related, not just a case of location/AP specific.
