Hi, I've been using my college's wireless network, without any problems when I'm at school. All of a sudden, today I am getting a message that my wireless connection is firewalled. I don't understand - I never got this message before. So what do I do now? Someone mentioned that I may need to disable or enable my firewall? Can you tell me specifically how to do this?
    Thanks, Greg.

Have you recently applied any Windows updates? Did you go from SP1 to SP2?

Perhaps your college is preventing you from connecting. Have you contacted the IT department?

No, I haven't made any changes, regarding service packs. I don't know what's going on. I will have to check with the school's IT dept. I have no idea why I would be firewalled though. Just weird. Thanks, Greg

Have you checked your firewall settings? Are you using the built in XP firewall or something else?

I know this sounds stupid but I really don't know if I'm using HP's built-in firewall or not. How can I find out and what should I be looking for? what should I check to make sure my connection settings are right? Thanks, Greg

I don't know about any HP firewall software, just the built in XP SP2 firewall and security center. The security center is located in your control panel. It will tell you if your firewall is enabled.

Well, I spoke to the school's IT guy and he set up an internet account for me using my college id and password. Why didn't I need this before - I have no idea.

I did however find out that my wireless button was shifted off. It's weird I thought it was on, but apparently was turned off. I must have bumped it when moving my notebook around. Oh well, Greg
