can someone enlighten me on these usb stick lookn devices that i guess will give me wireless connection to the net using my enabled wireless laptop.

do i just plug the device into my desktop, configure it and then configure my laptops wireless and away i go wireless. and will the desktop be able to be online at the sametime as the wireless laptop.

and could you tell me if this is one of these such devices http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/661/86...Network-Adapter/Product.html?searchtype=genre

now my desktop is connected online via usb modem

Hmm, I've never seen this done before, but it seems possible. I think the hard part is configuring the desktop to connect to the internet. Some configuration about Internet Connection Sharing.

i'm not 100% sure what you are asking. this device is for connecting to existing wireless networks. you need a wireless router to create a wireless network. this device doesn't create wireless networks just connects you to them. multiple computers can be connected to the network at the same time. does that answer your question

I am confused, you make it sound like you think this device will create a wireless network for you...You must have a wireless router connected to your modem to get this device to work, essentially this device is a wireless network card, but it is external. If your laptop is already wireless ready, there is no need for this USB device.

I think you're looking for a wireless router.

What you link to is a USB wireless card. Will connect to a wireless router, but not act as one.

Hmmm, unless like so many others he/she is looking to upgrade to N wireless. There are some nice N USB devices out there. In fact, I have a D-Link ordered, just not here yet. Don't know that I need it with my d-link N express card, but I like to try new things out........

okay guys, thanks.i thought that this could work.i did see a usb stick thingy like this for the psp.so when you wonna play online with ur psp you just plug this into a usb port and it acts like a wireless connection.

so i was thinkn if they made something like this for the psp, then surely they would have had something like this out for laptops.

OK, I see what you want to do, you want to turn the PC/laptop into a Wireless access point. Just buy a wireless router. It'll be easier to set up.

if you have unlimited internet access on your cell phone some plans do allow this its called tethering.. but it gets crazy expensive if you dont have a data plan..

but yes if all you want is a access point and you have internet available just get a wireless router and either use the built in card in the laptop or you can buy a usb or card based one..

You can use your laptop as an access point but it'll be an "ad hoc" connection. So anything within your "network" can use this setting. But you still need a wireless router if you want to access the internet. PSP already has a built in wi-fi but it only works in "b" mode.

For driving a car (wireless networking) u need a key (wifi card) & a car (Router with net connection)....what u mention is the key...but for wireless internet you need both unless u have internal wifi card...the product is basically an external WiFi card.
