sad but true my cable got shut off due to lack of paying the bill and I wont be able to get it turned back on until next week. I havetons of work to be done on the web so im a bit stuck.

I have a gateway laptop with an internal wireless card, a linksys wrtp54g router (with onlyone antenna) and the only usable signal i am getting is a wlan but it is very un reliable and I am looking for a way to boost the signal.

I have tried moving all around the house and that doesnt seem to work. call me ghetto but I actually took the antenna and pigtail off the router, made a simple cantenna and took off the cover on the bottom of the laptop and the attached it to the MAIN and EXT. ports on the wireless card and no improvement.

with my cantenna my signal actually went down, im sure this is to do with my lack of materials and or my construction methods.

like I said my wireless card is internal and i see no way to connect an external antenna without a usb adapter???

    any ideas please help,

    thx,

    dave

So you want *US* to help you jack(steal) someone else's signal? If thats not the case then I apologize.

I guess the internal antenna should be located inside your screen

The ant runs inside the casing, along the outside edge of the screen , the only way i can see to get a better signal is to buy a USB ant

Lol, Ghetto indeed. Why don't you go to a coffee shop like Starbucks? I think you get all the WLAN you want for free there.
