I am currently using an ASUS WL-500g Premium router and live in a 3 room apt. I live in the master bedroom farthest away from the router, both my roommates live near the router with the one getting the worst connection living about 10ft away with the a/c closet in the middle of the router and the room. I live about 18ft away from the router and I get good to very good signal while my room mate in the room next to the a/c closet is getting low to very low signal on his desktop and laptop. His desktop uses a DLink usb adapter. I think its the adapter that is causing the low signal and he thinks its the router that is bad but I live farther away from the router than he is.

So please help me fix this and suggest some kind of solution to get better signal in the room with the low signal.

    Thanks. P.S I am using Oleg's Firmware.

Go stand where he is and use your computer. If the network goes down, it's the router. If it doesn't, it's the adapter.

Yeah same problem...signal gets low when I enter his room. It is so weird because I am farther away from the router and I get good to very good signal and while his room gets low? Is there some way to increase the signal on the router? Because I have read a lot of reviews on the Asus routers and its always been good.

Argh so frustrating. My roommate is always saying the router sucks and I am like trying to defend my purchase all the time... :(

There's something in the walls blocking the signal, like pipes.
