Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5570z with XP.

Recently, I noticed that I've been having trouble connecting to websites with servers based in China such as www.sina.com.cn, www.baidu.com, I often have to refresh the page several times before I can see it.

On the other hand, I have no trouble accessing youtube, hotmail, etc.

I've been using wireless for a year and have never had this problem, any idea what might have caused it (hardware? virus? software recently installed)?

Any suggestion, help and tip is appreciated

China is one of the sources for massive hacker and illegal activity. So the sites may not be up. You may try lowering you MTU setting and see if it helps. I personally block ALL traffic from China, that has stopped 90% of the hackers trying to break into my servers.

Sorry I'm a noob at this, but what is MTU?

By the way, the sites I'm trying to access are all legal websites in china. It might have something to do with my wireless setting since I recently added a WPA connection and had to fiddle around a bit. I'll check from that perspective as well.

Thank you for your reply nonetheless.

MTU is a setting on your router, normally found in the adv section. Def is 1500, if your on DSL this should be 1492.

If your wireless is dropping out, it could be the cause.

It could be that the site is just over loaded and is not adding new ones till some drop off.
