my dad offered to put in a wifi router at home so that i can surf wirelessly when visiting. having no desire to wait for shipping and/or rebates, we just took a trip to fry's to see what kinda prices we could get at a b&m.
most of the brand name stuff (linksys, netgear, etc.) was over $50 even after rebate. found a trendnet b/g router for 39 bux otd. figuring (a) i could return it if it was crap and (b) dollars to donuts it came out of the same factory as the higher priced brands, we took a chance and bought it.
brought it home, set it up, 5 mins later and i am, as of this moment, surfing at full signal strength on a g connection from the exact opposite corner of the house (i.e., because of the where the dsl/wifi routers are (dad's office) and the sofa i'm sitting on (living room), i could not get my laptop farther away from the router without going outside).
anyways, just thought i'd pass the info along... hopefully it doesn't crap out tomorrow or something.
