I have this laptop with the GM965 chipset it came with the Atheros AR5006EXS wifi card which supports b/g. I was thinking i can upgrade it so i can get N, so i bought an intel 6300 card installed it. Computer boots up fine get into windows install the driver/program from intel. Rebooted i get that error in device manager, with a ! next to the card's name. The driver installs fine but when i load the intel wifi software it saids "no intel adapter found". So i was thinking the card was broken or whatever, I bought another card which is the 5100, and i still get the same error so it can't be the card(s) that's the issue it's my laptop. I heard of people getting cards whitelisted where the computer won't even POST with an upgraded/different card, but this laptop POST and loads into windows fine. Anyone have any suggestions of what the issue is ?

What is the laptop in question?
Did you get the drivers from Intel website? I seem to remember that there were some issued with the most recent drivers from Intel. Just to test it find drivers that are some two months old and try to install those.

    try replacing the wifi card
I got the same problem when using the 512AN_MMW (mini form), but the 512AN_HMW (half form) worked. Both of them are intel 5100AGN

Where did you get the wifi card? I bought a 6200 intel on ebay, but it was an engineering sample. I got the same error and could never get the card to work. The seller refunded my money.

the 6300 i got from craigslist so it might be broken who knows. but the 5100 i got from a forum member, Kobe_24 he said he even tested it in his own laptop and it was working fine before shipping it out to me. the 6300 is half card but the 5100 is full card, must be something else on my end. i'll take a shot with the drivers if not i'm giving up.
