    Hi,
i go to a boarding school and live in the dorms. problem is that whenever i have a league match to play, everyone is on the internet giving me erratic 150-200 ping making it unplayable for competition. i was wondering if it is possible to redirect most of the internet to my computer giving me a constant 70-90 ping for like 45 min or so so that i would be able to play lag free. Getting my own internet connection is out of the question because its a business address and i cannot get comcast att to set it up because it would be extremely costly(NOT <$50 a month more like >$1000 a month XD)
    please help thx

I think he is asking if he can prioritize his usage in reference to others in the dorms. I do not believe this can be done without administrator network access. I have looked into this a bit as I am on a shared connection as well. The best solution I have found is to cut down quality and frames, thus getting a bit less lag.

Yes.. get a router(with traffic prioritzation)/computer/virtualmachine with linux (there're special distribution for routing purpose), then tell everyone to connect your computer/router and you can prioritize the traffic.

You plug in your router and let everyone connect to your router. Then throttle everyone's internet connection except for yours.

    BTW...3G connection has higher ping.

What kind of school is that? I have 30Mbit/s line at home and 100Mbit/s+ T1 line in my high school.

Yes.. more bandwidth should cut your ping by a lot when the internet is under heavy use.
