Hi everyone, first of all, I'm sorry for my bad english, because it's not my mother language. I'll try to explain the best way I can.

My home-network configuration looks like this:
Standard PC - Lan connection, Win XP, Realtek RTL8139 network card
Asus notebook - wireless, WinXP, Intel PRO 3945BAG
    Fujitsu-Siemens - wireless, WinXP, Atheros AR5005G

They are all connected to AP D-link 514, wchich has DHCP on and WPA key for wireless. Everything works great on PC and FS notebook, but I'm having strange disconnecting on Asus. It looks like the internet is just dissapearing for some time, I can't use IE, Opera or any messengers. I'm getting and recieving pings with no problems, "ipconfig /all" says it's alright, but I can't open any website or anything. The same thing appears when I disable wireless and try to connect my notebook using LAN, sometimes the connection is fine and then it's just dissapear. I really don't have an idea what to do, I've searched a lot of forums including this but still no idea.
I have newest drivers for network and wifi cads and I'm using windows to manage internet connections. I hope I gave all details, if not, just let me know. Thanks for any replies..

The Intel 3945BAG card has been giving everyone problems. The problem is a driver issue. Go to Intel's web site and check for the latest drivers there. On intel drivers I read a note some where that most were patches. Meaning you had to have all and upgrade in steps.

Hmm, maybe you're right, but I also get the same problem with LAN connection in my notebook (using some Realtek network card, getting dynamic IP from DHCP) I tried to use IE reports to check the connection, it displays that everythink is OK, but when it comes to protcol diagnostics it sais:

    FTP (pasive): OK! (ftp.microsoft.com)
    HTTPS: OK! ( www.microsoft.com)
HTTP: Error 12029 the connection could not be established ( www.microsoft.com)
HTTP: Error 12029 the connection could not be established ( www.hotmail.com)
HTTP: Cannot make a HTTP connection.

I'm using Norton Internet Security as a firewall, and I uninstalled all internet connection managers (Intel, Net4switch)

Uninstall Norton and your system will run much smoother. Use Comodo FW and Avira AV or Avista AV. Check to see if your power management can not turn the ports off to save energy. Located in the advanced properties for your port's.

OK, I did everything you said and now it doesn't connect even with AP (LAN, wifi) :) the powersafe options is disabled. Can this be a problem with av or firewall, because on the other laptop in my room there's norton security center nothing has been changed and it works fine, I don't know where is the problem :/ maybe it's a system configuration.. should I try to resinstall windows again?

From everything I have read its a driver issue.

    1. Are you loading both MS Zero Config and Intel utility? You can not load both, they will fight each other. Kill one of them (intel) if so.

    2. Will it connect to a open system?

    3. Is your ssid less the 8 ch and contain no spaces.
    4. If your WPA key is greater than 20 chr reduce and only use alpha-numeric no spaces.

Se if any of these do the trick.

ok guyz stay with me in this one :)..

after I managed to have a smooth connection (with ur help ofcoz) after about 2 days it got cut, it was probably because of some spywares or sth. Then I tried to install some freeware av, to get rid of norton, but I still had no connection. I decided to reinstall whole system again. Now It's free of any viruses (I hope) I have a connection throught LAN but it doesn't want to connect using wifi, it just drives me nuts  I installed newest drivers from Intel, is there no hope that this wifi can ever work normally! :(
(can this be problems also with an Asus drivers and soft)

ok I'm using ms win to manage connection, other connection manager softs are disabled, but nevermind, I managed to cennect (I just had to restart router once).. I had internet connection.. till this moment. I give up!

I have the same problem as before.
I reinstalled whole system, I made winsock update, I made wifi drivers update I scanned whole system couple of minutes ago (Avira Antivir, Norton AV, Ad-Aware Personal) and they found nothing! And now the same problem as before apperad. I have connection to AP (wifi, lan), I can send and recieve pings, I can also recieve and sent e-mail (opera e-mail client) but I can't open any website (opera browser, IE) and any messenger.

What can I do more to check for any rootkits, malwares?
And howcome I can recieve mail

I hope you done have Norton and Avira installed at the same time.

Does it work through a wired connection?

Connect to the routers admin page and check you Internet (broadband, WAN) properties. or from a dos cmd post the results of "ipconfig /all"

Everything appears OK, the values are what I expected from a router. Try modifying your TCP/IP settings to reflect the actual gateway and DNS numbers. Or a complete static setup.

Have you changed any settings in the Internet Properties, CP. ????

Are you running any access control to limit children activities? Are you using a modified HOST file? You can download Hooster and look at your HOST file. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Are you blocking inbound port 80 in your routers firewall rules. Some routers can control access.

Disable any firewall (personal) on the nb.

By pass your router and see it works. May not if your ISP is controlling access.

I'm running out of thing to check.

    OK.. so

I didn't changed any valueas in internet properties
I don't have any access control to limit children activities running
I'm not using a modified HOST file.
My ISP is controlling access by MAC.

And as for router filrewall rules:

    Action Name Source Destination Protocol

Allow WAN Ping WAN,* *,* ICMP,8
Deny Default *,* LAN,* IP (0),*
Allow Default LAN,* *,* IP (0),*

I'll try to set a static IPs but I don't think that nay help becouse every other laptop I connected had no problems, that's including one F-s nootebook with the same wifi card as mine. I'll try also to install windows xp pro with just a basic drivers... so I'll know for sure that this isn't a problem with software..

    Hi again..

So finally, it's been almost 3 days since I've installed Win XP Pro SP2 witch just a basic sofware & drivers and until now, there wasn't a problem with wifi connection. So it seems that the problem is somewhere in Asustek software (it's installed together with windows). I'll try to install this FileZilla and check the ftp also..
