yea i guess that was supposly one of the faster and better routers..
this was my 1st time going wireless, and it was a hard set up..
it gave me alot of trouble.. sum how i got it working, but the speeds are like
around 1mb.. alot slower than my desk top...
do i need to go buy a n1 notebook card or the usb to make it go faster??
i get sum lag playing wow.. and its kinda frustrating... cuz i bought a expensive router, and performance seems kinda low...

To realize the speed of the router the notebook card must also be capable of those speeds otherwise the router will fall back to the speed of the notebook card.

Hmmmm....sounds as if it may be defective as my brother in law had similar problems with his first one and after returning it the second one setup just fine and gave him a constant speed of 6+Mbps on comcast calble. I also have the N1 and I get burst speeds of up to 14Mbps with comcast and I am not using the N1 compatible card but it is on my list of what to get next :D

Belkin is not known for reliability. I have yet to get hold of 1 that worked the first time. So I no longer recommend them any more. I had a few that worked for a short period of time, then started locking up. Even hard resets would not clear it. Had to be powered down for 20min to clear. Return it for Dlink or a Netgear. Dlink has the better support. Netgear only gives you 90 days free phone support. But thy make a good solid product.

I generally use SMB class equipment which is seperate hardware, 8 port VPN router with a 16 port managed switch with a seperate AP's connected to the router.

I generally do not recommend hardware, Mfg are constantly changing firmware. With each update performance changes. Case in point is Linksys WRT54G v5+. They had a solid product and butchered it when they cut ram and rom to 1/2. No longer recommend Linksys.

I do not recommend anything 11n, or do I like MIMO.

As for as combo units I like the Dlink DGL-4300. The Netgear WPN824 (MIMO) is a good router but I do not like MIMO hardware because it conflict with other network in the area.

Dlink has the best support. Netgear only gives you 90days of free phone support. But email support is available after the 90 days.

Oh boy, does that sound familiar :) I bought N1 about a month ago. After a week, found it was defective. Exchanged it for another one. That one was OK, but I had too many dropouts. One thing to keep in mind, flip it over and look at the version #. Some stores trying to clean out their inventory and still selling v1xxx hardware version which had some problems. If you decide to stick with N1, make sure the version is v2xxx.

Myself, I actually returned N1 and got the new shiny D-Link DIR655 (way above the N1). Running perfectly at 300Mbps with my internal N card. Highly recommend it!!!

    Mine worked first try :)

I love my n1! I don't have the card, but I don't really need it. It would be nice, but it's not priority 1 right now. My version is 1000 and it has never given me any problems. I updated firmware though. Mine gets really hot, does this happen to anyone else?

That stinks that yours is really slow. I'd probably exchange it for another. I'm just curious, what wireless card do you have in your laptop? And thanks for answering my question about the heat. I scoured the web for hours and no one mentioned it once!

it gives me more problems.. im to lazy to look it up, but its the one on a dell e1705, i think intel something??

    I get 3MB/s with my 11g AP.

Heat, That is why I like seperate hardware. They do not heat up like combo units do.
