hi everyone, i need your help urgently. first of all, i have two laptops. one is connected via LAN cable and the other is on my wireless network. The notebook that is connected via LAN cable has very poor internet connection speeds. It takes about 5 minutes to load a web page! I updated the lastest ethernet drivers and the problem still persists. btw when i plug in my fujitsu lifebook via LAN cable, it has no problems loading a web page. My hp pavillion has problems when i connect it via LAN. any help would be appreciated.

How is the HP wirelessly, if it has it? Try shutting down the Firewall.

extra firewall's are almost not worth it to me.
i just use the windows one
others, like ZoneAlarm just cause you grief blocking everything you WANT to run
    try stopping that,
if not, you could always try a different browser, as i know some people who have messed up settings etc...

If you've got a firewall on the router that alone should be fine, just shut down the ones on the PCs.

one thing I do to most every computer I get my hands on is change a couple Internet settings.

click Tools>Internet Options from here we can tweak a few things. clear the history and delete the temp internet files and cookies. I always set my history down to like 2 days. Click settings under temp internet files. click the "reload page every visit" and turn down the amount of disk spaces used. I have mine set to 1mb. If you have broadband then there really isn't a need to store temp files.

another killer could be viruses and spyware. Spyware especially can kill browsing speed.

give that a try, if you tihnk it might be spyware then I can give you lots of things to try to help that.
