hey guys, got a problem and its been happening for about a month. The internet is extremely slow for my computer. Sometimes, the page doesn't even load completely, I end up disabling wireless then enabling it. Even after that, its still pretty slow compared to a few months ago (september) when it was very fast. I use windows vista and have 3 laptops using wireless to a D-Link DI-714P+ router and the speed is 11Mb/s which is the normal speed of it. Anyone know of what the problem is or can tell me steps to diagnose for the problem?

    thanks,

What happens if you connect to the router via ethernet cable? What happens if you remove the router and connect one laptop via ethernet cable to the modem?

You can try to change the router channel, sometimes that helps.

I would try unplugging the router and plugging it back in.

Try rubbing the top of the router with your hands in small circular motions.

The router knows you didn't get it a christmas present. It's on strike.

Everybody else had all the suggestions though. Connect it directly to the modem first (See if the router is really the cause). If it's faster, then try everything else out.

If it's still slow, is it cable or DSL that you're attaching it to? And what model modem?
If it's cable, and you happen to have a Motorola modem (Works on most others too, but they sometimes have a different IP), try checking this; http://192.168.100.1/signal.html

If you've got less than 5dB, you might have issues staying connected. Check your logs to confirm.

If you've got DSL, you're out of luck for my help... I was only a cable tech.

oh yeah also another thing. Sometimes its back to normal and decently fast but sometimes it lags really badly. Right now, its fine and that might be because no one else is using wireless so that might be a problem. I will try all troubleshooting and see if I can get back to you guys.
