okay i have a major disaster.

Goal: I have a phone that i want to use wifi on
Devices: USB wireless broadband internet (MAXIS), wireless router, laptop

So, im thinking of using the wireless router to share my connection with the phone. Something like this

MAXIS > lappy (also can access internet) > Ethernet card & LAN wire > wireless router > phone

Try 1: Using ICS to share MAXIS with Local Area Connection doesnt work.

    any help please

If you've got a recent Intel Wifi card in your laptop, maybe you can try use the Intel My WiFi Technology app to share the internet via an ad-hoc network.

If you don't have the Intel My WiFi app on your start menu install the latest Intel driver and enable it. Follow these instructions if necessary to enable "My WiFi" technology: UNABLE TO LOAD THE INTEL MY WIFI TECHNOLOGY DLL FILE (you can ignore the WiDi stuff)

Then on the Start menu open Intel My WiFi Technology, click Enable and you should be able to set up a network to share your internet from there.

(note: I've got an Intel 6200 wireless card with the same generation CPU as yours so I'm assuming that you probably have a similar wireless card)

oops i should have given more details..

Wireless : Dell 1520 Half Mini Card Wireless N
    Ethernet: Broadcom Netlink Gigabit

does it have to be an Intel card to share ad hoc? i thought all cards could make ad hoc networks o_O

You won't be able to use the "Intel My WiFi Technology" thing, but there's probably a wizard built into Windows that you could try use.
