    hi

we have a really top speck pc running vista premium and an old xp laptop. i was woundering if there was any way that i can share my mums documents folder from the vista to her profile on the xp laptop. so she could directly modify the contents of the documents on the xp machine and there would be no significant difference between working on either machine.

i have tried just sharing the douments folder by reight clicking on it and click share, it shows up on the xp laptop but i cant access it.

    any help would be appreciated

To access shared folders between .Vista and XP machines u will need to download the LLTD responder software from microsoft. Install it on the XP machine.
You will have to set the correct read/write permissions for the "Share" AND "Security" permission sections on the folder that is being shared; And you will also need to enable File and Printer sharing on the network interface card for the XP machine, and also enable it on the .Vista machine.

If the OP can see the XP computer folder it means the LLTD is already on.

When you make the folder to share, make sure to apply the appropriate access privileges.

I just posted some stuff on a similar problem here, including a link to an MS TechNet article, BB727037, that discusses the differences in file-sharing between XP and _Vista. Take a read through the MS article to see if there's anything helpful there.
