yah i just got my inspiron 1420 notebook and i dont have a wireless router yet
i tried pluggin in my cable connection from my computer into my laptop.
and it wont connect
someone please help
and i know absolutely nothing about vista and its starting to get frustrating
-
your running a plug from your desktop to your laptop?
or the ethernet plug that was originally plugged into your desktop is now in your laptop? -
lol you cant do that without setting your desktop as an internet sharing machine and without messing with a lot of configurations, which in the end dont work. Simple advice, buy a router.
-
so you need to run ICS to connect to the net?
well from experience that is a pain in the rear end and you really should get a router, they're quite cheap these days
vista also has some connection issues that will frustrate you more -
Even with ICS you will need a crossover cable. The network cable that you currently have is no doubt a passthrough.
But like everyone else... buy a router. They are almost as cheap as the crossover cable.
seriously need help
