    Im having some annoying problems...
My firewall, free version of zonealarm, is blocking the host process for windows (svchost.exe), even though im let it have access...( i put the green check (allow) on the "host process for windows" yet its still blocking this to access the interent...

I am using wireless by the way... can someone help me out here... i can use interenet every now and then, then i get kicked off/disconnected... I know its this, since i put it to ask when prompted or used, and when i wait to give it permission to access interenet, i cant use the internet, then right when i allow it, i can use the internet (however sometimes not)...

Problem seems to help, when i restart my computer...

    PLEASE HELP

EDIT: problem says this... 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.x.x has been blocked------even though ive allowed this(put 4 green checks to this svchost.exe)-----... 4 alerts in total happen right when i try to connect to internet via wireless

EDIT 2: I know i should input this IP in manually, but there are so many...im a newb as you can see... it looks like my "OWN PC's NAME" DNS is being blocked, is this the one to add, or do I add svchost as well??? theres a few differenet destination IP's like this though, exept the ones ranked high, are the same

I'd go with makaveli72's suggestion; however, if that's not going to happen (at least not now), does the blocking message give you an explanation for why it blocked that particular access attempt?

What's being blocked in the message you included in your post looks like a packet that's being sent from your router to your computer (I'm guessing that "192.168.x.x" is the IP address of your computer).

Did you change any of the default security settings on the firewall when you installed it? Also, have you turned off the built-in firewall that Windows has? If you haven't, then you've got dueling firewalls, which can only lead to trouble.

    hey guys

It beleive its my computer trying to connect to the router, however, theres svchost.exe trying, and when i deny this i get disconnected fron the internet... theres also my one that incoming distenation and svchost.exe is outgoing and routed

what should i do, without comprimising security...

any othere better firewall programs that are better/harder for people to hack?

INCOMING: ALWAYS SAYS THE NAME I NAMED MY COMPUTER AT WINDOWS SETUP (THE NAME OF MY COMPUTER's DNS)
OUTGOING: SVCHOST.EXE DIFFERENT ADDRESSES EVERY NOW AND THEN
    ROUTED: SVCHOST.EXE (SAME AS ABOVE)

zonealarm even blocked some stuff from this website as well...

EDIT: it says next to the event logs, that this is a personal policy...Im stupid i should have known this... but do you know how to accept this stuff (the ones that are needed, without coprimising security) is clicking the setting ... allow all outgoing dns/dhcp in trusted zones??? and allow all outgoing dns/dhcp in interent zones??? Should i click both i just dont want someone hacking in to easily

I dont know much about wireless sorry guys

I cannot recommend zonealarm given numerous problems like you've described.

If you insist on keeping it, you used to be able to reset zonealarm back to its default settings by deleting two files

For the life of me, I cannot recall their names or where those files are....but if you go to the Zonealarm forums and post "reset zonelarm" some ZA expert will help.

Personally, with Vista, the built in firewall is fine for MOST purposes

The built-in Windows firewall should be more than adequate, as gerryf19 says, unless you're going to be visiting websites or downloading files that you shouldn't oughtta be d/l'ing. :D

Thanks guys - Got rid of Zonealarm and no problems with WiFi now... But I still need a firewall, besides the one on my router... I really like the word secure...

Do you know of any very good firewall programs... Zonealarm is rated #1, I never had any issues using it via ethernet, but wifi stumps me...

Any ideas which program is a good firewall for wifi.. thanks
