So, I have full wireless internet connectivity in my dorm (as you can tell by the fact that you're reading this post), and for the most part it works just fine. Firefox is working well on any web page, and I can connect to the FFXI game servers. However, for some reason, I'm getting stuck in load times for both CoD4 and Lord of the Rings Online. My firewall is allowing both of the programs, and the school doesn't have any limitations implemented. Any thoughts?

    network congestion...game patch update needed...wireless adapter update...signal attenuation....bad karma

edit--that sounded more snide than I intended, especially with the bad karma crack.

Need more information. Does the laptop you are using behave differently on another wireless network? (check out a different wireless hotspot)

There might be some congestion, and possibly some bandwidth limiting at play here. How fast is the internet connection? Don't answer 54Mbps!

no--it means your network is not ipv6 capable yet...but most are not

You should actually have IPv6 disabled right now unless you have a specific need to have it enabled. In general, no networks currently use IPv6, and leaving it enabled might expose you to a greater risk of malware since many of the current security measures do not focus on IPv6.

As far as your loadtime slowdowns go, first I'd check to see if the school uses throttling or some other sort of bandwidth management measures - basically, even if they don't have per-se restrictions implemented, they may have bandwidth management resources that are restricting the amount of bandwidth you can commandeer for your own up/down loads (after all, your gaming shouldn't really be getting in the way of someone else's thesis research, should it?). Otherwise, it's most likely network congestion (i.e., de facto bandwidth management - sort of like how traffic jams "manage" speeding :D ).
