I'm looking for either router or fairly simple to use firewall distro that support client-to-site IPSec VPN on a dynamic IP(both end). This is for personal usage and not business. I currently have a IPFire distro on a VIA C7 board w/ 2 NIC that server as a router on my FiOS right now. I have no problem using OpenVPN inside my home, the problem is that not everything support OpenVPN, especially iDevice. I have jailbreak iPad and getting the OpenVPN to connect(got the local IP address), but the routing table is all screw up and I can't connect to anything. And the light of the recent MS CHAP vulnerability, I afraid to use PPTP even more. I have no problem spending say about $100 on a hardware router(wire or wireless), that will serve such purpose. Obviously if there is a distro that I can use on my VIA C7 board it's good also. The two NIC cards are VIA VT6102(Rhine-II) and RealTek RTL8139. Yea, they are not the greatest but for personal use w/ not a whole load of traffic constantly, it's fine. I mention the two cards on there because I have try some BSD based firewall and they are not working great, especially the VIA NIC, have a lot of problem finding support driver. If you are going to suggest a hardware box, please keep in mine that I do have a FiOS, and many cheap box cannot handle full load even on a lowest FiOS tier 25M/5M.
