    does anyone have suggestions for the the best router/ap to match up with the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG found in my notebook?

    As a data point, I have a WRT54G that works with my 3945ABG card. But I agree with ZaZ, just go on price and features. I'd stay away from D-Link, but everything else is fair game.

    I will second, the Linksys WRT54G... it is a solid piece of hardware. I am sure you can find a good deal now days. my version 1.1 has suffered practically no down time over 4 years of use (much better than my recently bricked "2wire"). The WRT54G has a great following for 3rd party firmware as well.

    I've seen them on sale at BestBuy for as low as 20USD

    although i do realize that any router is fine, most info i've been reading on wireless notes that optimal performance can only be reached when using equipment from the same company... so i was kinda asking if some routers would substantially increase performance when paired with my wireless card...
