    replacing a 2200bg in a HP

    after problems with my nx8220 and the intel 2200bg i thought i would try replacing the card incase of a hardware problem, however when i tried the card it halted on the boot up reporting an unrecognized card

    how do i remove this lock from the bios?????

    I don't believe there's a way to remove this "lock" as it's programmed into the BIOS.

    What was wrong with your Intel 2200BG card that came with your nx8220? I haven't had any issues with my card in my nx8220.

    tried all drivers but comes down to the 2200bg problems of dropping speed , tried another 2200bg from intel but hp locks down the hardware, might try one of these ATHEROSĀ® AR5002G 108Mbps

    I have one of the Atheros cards and love it. However, if you are going to get one, I'd look into getting at least the 5005. I think the 5006 is the latest. I'm sure the one you have looked at would be fine but why not get one of the newer ones while you were at it. Just a thought.

    Did some quick research: You'd be better off with a 5212a. They are made for Hp and you don't have to tweak the bios. Here's a link: AR5212A

    brought one of the above cards, still reporting unrecognised device upon boot, come on hp get ur act together
