I recently purchased an Asus X541UA laptop. Wouldn't you know it, has the same problem as my 7+ year old Asus laptop, in that the wi-fi will never stay connected. Sometimes my Bluetooth mouse stops working too. Some quick internet research found that many people have problems with the Realtek RTL8723BE chip. I purchased a new Intel 3168 chip, without realizing that the two cards have a different pin configuration, and the 3168 won't go in my laptop. I had always heard the Intel 8265 and 3168 were good cards, also Bigfoot Network Killer 1535 or whatever it's called. But it looks from pictures online like they won't fit either.

I apologize for not knowing what to call the two different pin configurations. The Realtek I'm trying to place has one large prong of pins, a gap, then one small prong of pins. All of the other cards mentioned above have three prongs.

Anyway ... does anybody know of a high quality Wi-Fi + Bluetooth card that would actually fit in my Asus X541UA? I am open to any suggestions, and any education on laptop wi-fi cards people care to share. Thanks so much for any help.

pic of the Realtek card in my laptop: https://ibb.co/mPvON5 can't figure out how to insert it lol sorry

This sir, is mini PCI Express (half height in your case).
It's true that Realtek 8723BE or BS are terrible- as are all other cards made by this company, however mini PCI Express is not a standard in use anymore, so you wont get any current cards in it.

You ca get Intel 6200 which would be OK and pretty cheap, or Intel 7260 is you need 802.11ac is you need that but 7260 is the most recent cards there is in mini PCI Express factor.

FWIW there was some 3x3 802.11ac Broadcom mini pcie card, with modern MHF4 connectors btw. I generally suggest 7260AC, though - it's great yet cheap.
