there seems to be alot of different opinion as to the brand and type of card thats the best. my xps is coming with a dell 1395 wireless g card, i want to know what would be the best upgrade, a intel 4965agn wireless n card, or possibly a different brand like atheros. ive on this forum that atheros is highly recomended. but i cant seem to find a place to buy any or a reference as to what would be compatible with my laptop. any advice is appreciated. thank you.

The Intel 4965 runs very well on my m1530, but I don't have any experience with atheros so it would be unfair to tell you to buy the Intel card; just know that Intel works well.

I also have an Intel 4965AGN and works just fine. Atheros is good too, but it's hard to find the drivers along with the vendors.

the 4965 is a good card. It is just limited if you don't get a dual band N router that can transmit simultaneously on 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

But thats no biggie unless you transfer very large files on your network or have LAN parties and game. The advantages of N are basically for your network, not your internet access/speed- it does nothing for that.

What is your router? Or the router where you spend more of your time connecting.
