    hi all.

i have a ps3, and while i'm playing online sometimes it lags a lot. i know it's not always on my side, but on the other players' side and on ps3's server as well, but it is happening a lot despite the green bars showing the connection between me and the players as great (ea sports fifa 11).

my question is, should i enable or disable upnp in my router to make it a bit better?

and if i put my ps3 in the 'dmz', will it be hacked/etc?

    thank you. :)

It shouldn't matter a bit. Sony has screwed things up royally with their network, and it's been up and down more than a yo-yo over the past few months. Only real solution is to wait it out, because it's not your network and there's nothing you can do about it. Or sell the PS3 and get an Xbox 360 ;)

it sucks big time. i play fifa 11 on it and it's like a screen-saver. when it comes on after the lag, buttons clicked 10 seconds ago come into play. argh. i'll definitely buy the new xbox and pay for online game-play if it means no lag (is there?). :/

Not here .... MS seemed to have perfected online game play 9 years ago ... Sony is trying to catch up after starting ONE year ago

Hackers usually don't target PS3 system itself. Playstation's network on the other hand...

If you put your PS3 in DMZ you should be fine. That will take the PS3 completely outside the router's built in firewall.

    I can't see you getting hacked o a PS3. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. :)

    Take care,
    Shannon
