Hi... I got a new laptop and I am trying to share a printer over my wireless network (Netgear wireless cable modem gateway).

I added both my desktop and laptop to the same workgroup. Sharing files is working fine.

However, when I begin to add a network printer, it will auto complete the computer and printer name in the add printer wizard, then when I click next it will give me the warning about installing a printer, but after I push yes to continue it will give me the error message "could not open to selected printer"

    what am I doing wrong?

Is this a printer connected to a computer then shared, or a printer directly connected to the network?

Never mind I got it to work!

the printer is connected to the desktop and then shared

However, earlier today I had connected the printer to my lapto via usb. For some reason, after I removed the printer, and then added it via the network it works!

    Thanks for your reply :)
