    problems connecting to via wireless

    hi i've just bought a new Packard Bell MX37-S-200 Laptop and i'm having problems connecting to my network, the network shows up fine but sometimes it wont connect to it. could this have something to do with ip settings as it today it said obtaining new ip settings and now its working again after a day of not working.

    any help would be appreciated as i'm not that technically minded

    No, it's not the ip settings, per se--every time you connect to the network you obtain new ip settings (or renew old ones).

    It is much more likely a driver issue or a signal strength issue. Move closer to the router--does the problem go away?

    If not, look for updated drivers

    What security/encryption settings are configured on the router? Try using a different type! And delete your current network from the computer [Control Panel--> Network and Sharing Center--> Manage Wireless Networks on the left pane, then right-click your network and remove it. ] and re-connect to your router (network) using the same settings on the router. Such as security/encryption, channel number etc. The channel # is set on the router itself and also on the computer via 'Device Manager' [Under the Network section in Device Manager locate your wireless card and select it's properties]. Is MAC filtering being used on the router?

    *As gerry was saying, could be needing drivers for your wireless card...possibly the latest firmware for the router as well.
