a freind of mine got a new hp laptop for college. now whenever she trys to connect to a wireless and type in an address the address disapears in the url box and shows: HTTP:///
yeah, three slashes, not two. she cant connect to the internet and none of us can figure out why. she gets connected to a network, but not the internet, only the local net. the rest of us are having no problems.

Your friend may have a trojan or other bit of nasty malware on the computer, as that seems to be the common source of this problem according to the following links I found using this google search:
