hi everyone..sorry for my spelling or grammar.well, for sometime now my laptop poped a message regarding the ip protocol(saying a serious problem has occured..),then it was infected with a trojan virus and now(after not being able to clear the virus),windows enter but freeze after trying to open any program or start a prossese.i opened it thru safe mode and run antivirus programs but nothing was shown.i read somewhere that this ip problem is connected with drivers (intel pro/wireless 3945abg) and their updates..what is the problem?
    thanx in advance

I don't know exactly what you're dealing with, but before wiping the HDD and re-installing, I would try (in Safe Mode if need be) installing updated wireless drivers. What virus program did you use? AVG Free works well. Also you might try clearing your IP stack with this handy little tool. It worked for me once when my wireless kept crashing. As a last-ditch effort, I would have to agree that wiping your HDD and re-installing would be best. However, first make SURE you have backup drivers and all your documents backed up. God bless. :)

Save your self some headachs and backup your data, then wipe the HD and do a clean install of XP. Then make sure you have your AV up todate before importing your data.

You don't have to have the windows cd to update your drivers; you should be able to update through Device Manager>Network Adapters>(name of your wireless card). You should get a wireless card properties box that looks something like this.

Then you select the Drivers tab, and click Update Driver. Note: you will not be able to download a driver update if you are not connected to the Internet (which you might not be if you are having troubles with your wireless)
    I hope it works out.
