    problem setting up my wireless

    i have dell inspiron 640m that i just bought from ebay that didn't come with anything and i'm having a lot of problem setting up my wireless internet. i was able to set up my ethernet connection. i do have a wireless router in my house and it works fine with my sister's laptop.

    What Operating System are you running? I will send you a link to the drivers for the wireless card.

    Okay Dell has like a million different wireless drivers here...it's one of these. Try accessing Device Manager to see if the card shows up there under the Network section. Control Panel--> System--> Hardware--> Device Manager.

    Edit: I would personally start with the 4th one down. Then the 6th, then the last. After you've installed the proper driver go to Start--> Run and type ncpa.cpl and hit enter. There you should see both the LAN and WLAN Network Adapters.

    i'm still downloading it but what do i do after that?

    p.s. i'm very low tech so you're gonna have to be very clear on everthing

    OMG i can't believed i just got it to work. i found my wireless signal, put in the network key,and got it up and running.

    Continue the steps I mentioned above; In the network conections folder right click the wireless adapter and select Properties; put in the two checks at the bottom of that window; then scroll in the box in the middle of the window down to Internet Protocol, select it and then click Properties and enusre the two sections says "Obtain IP Automatically....."

    Edit: Okay, I typed all that for nothing. :)
