I have a standard desktop and another desktop I use once in a while that connects to internet without wires thru Wireless Access Point Router, which is Linksys 2.4 GHz 802.11b

I want to make sure that a laptop I am going to buy will access internet thru this router. So my question is - Will a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop with 802.11G Wi-Fi Mini Card access internet thru this Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11B Wireless Access Point Router ? And if Yes, what the difference in speed will be compearing to a 802.11G Router. Basicaly I want to know if I've to spent extra money on buying another Router. Thanks for the help

p.s. i use Cable (Road Runner)

1.) Yes, your laptop will run just fine on the older router.
2.) The difference will not be noticeable if you're simply using it to share the Internet, as the Internet speed will not approach the limits of the router. If you move a ton of files over your network, you may want to upgrade--but remember, your're limited by the slowest component in the system.

ne1 knows what is the range of my old Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11b Wireless Access Point Router with 4 Port Switch? model BEFW11S4

that's very weird. I've read the whole user guide(68 pages) and nowhere it says anything about wireless range, only something stupid about roaming, does it mean that I won't be able to use my laptop wirelessly in another room or another floor or on the porch or on the patio behind the house?

The range and strength of your router's signal will depend on the materials used in you home and the location of the router. My mother has the same router you have and has been able to recieve a decent signal thoughout her 2200 sq ft home, wood & sheetrock walls. Router located on one side of the house.
