    hello,

i have an old thinkpad which i had put in storage for some months. the pc card port appears to have stopped responding. all cards which i place in the slot do npoy receive power and obviously do not function (wireless card and lan card).

i noticed that the ras server does not start. i also noticed that the driver has a yellow excalamation point ! next to it in the device manager. i have uninstalled, reinstalled, started all dependent services. still nothing.

is there a setting somewhere which renders the card slot disabled

perhaps something i might have set to make the computer boot faster when i did not require the pc cards.

    thank you
    s

Do you remember exactly what you did when you messed around with msconfig? Have you tried reversing the settings yet?

Also, you may want to try using System Restore in the Control Panel.

I would start by reenabling all the stuff in msconfig and see if that helps. You probably stopped a process related to the PCMCIA port driver.
