I have this kind of My Book series, the network version (World Edition). But it's the old one (with blue rings): WD My Book World Edition II 1TB. It consists of 2 WD 3.5" 7200RPM drives in RAID configurations, either RAID 0 (1TB) or RAID 1 (500MB). This old version also has single drive models, without RAID capability and cooling fan. Having this network drive is very handy if you have multiple PCs/notebooks in your home, but it is known to be very slow despite using gigabit ethernet. Although, I could still use it for streaming HD1080 quality movies.

The new version of My Book World Edition (with white lights) comes only in single drive and said to be improved in speed. But it means no options for RAID (especially mirroring/RAID 1) and no cooling fan, which could be risky of having it available 24x7.

There is also WD ShareSpace, but some reviews said that it's also slow despite RAID 0 capability and using gigabit connection.
