    Hi there,
I'm using a Asus m50sv laptop running with windows xp sp3. Asus don't make drivers for xp so most of them are sourced elsewhere. My wireless isn't connecting to any networks. The wireless light is on but when i search for a network it doesn't show any and therefor I can't attempt to connect to ours. I have tried to download and install the drivers again and they seem to be working ok in the device manager settings. I have tried with the firewall off but I still can't work it out.
thanks guys, any help would be great!

Has this computer ever been connected wirelessly to a network? What kind of router are you trying to connect to?

    start > run
    cmd
    click ENTER

    type
    ipconfig
    ENTER

    What do you see?

Yes it was connected wirelessly for quite a while and I never had any problems, the router is a netgear cvg824g and other computers in the house are getting a wireless signal in the house except for mine.
    The ipconfig settings are saying
    media state: media disconnected
did you need to know the ip address subnet mask and default gateway?

If it is disconnected, the IP address etc won't matter.

I think you should recheck those drivers.

Check your Personal FW it may have it locked out. I have had several over the years that have killed networking.

I think maybe you should press the Fn key and the F2 key.

    Function + F2 enables/disables the wireless card.

i deleated the original drivers and tried another few but none of them seem to work, the last one though a bubble comes up from the wireless network taskbar icon that says something like "networks have been detected click to view these networks" but no networks actually are listed?? Also the only firewall I had was the windows firewall but it doesn't work with that turned off
what to do, what to do, wish there was a cmd = fix things

When I took Vista out of my 5515 and reinstalled XP Pro. I had that same problem with my webcam. I ended up having to down load the drivers from Acer to get it working properly again.
Don't know if it will help or not, but you might try to find the right drivers on Acer.
